A few years ago I did a poetry writing course on WordPress. Each day for two weeks we were given a word which we would use to create a poem. The following poem was inspired by the prompt “fallacy” but I think it ties in with the mask theme.

Fallacy
I ‘m seeing from your Facebook page
That life is fine and grand.
He’s taking you to ski in Banff
And then to Disneyland.
And what a gorgeous diamond
He gave you just last year.
But what’s that I see in your eye?
Oh, could it be tear?
It seems your life’s not perfect
Though you live it with such grace.
But what we see on Facebook
Is not what’s on your face.
This is so true. Many people are good “Actors.”
